Faleza Jiu

The “Faleza Jiu” project tackles the issue of urban regeneration, specifically addressing the lack of adequate recreational and relaxation spaces for the residents of Târgu Jiu.

It focuses on the redevelopment of an area along the Jiu River, modernizing the levee into an attractive promenade. The project highlights the development of urban infrastructure, including pedestrian walkways, bike lanes, green spaces, rest areas, and a special parking area for tourists.

The project has a substantial impact on the region, improving the quality of urban life, attracting more tourists, boosting the local economy, and creating a positive environmental influence through green spaces and sustainable mobility options like walking and cycling.

So far, the project has been carried out as a volunteer initiative. Over the past year, there has been close collaboration with the city’s residents to ensure the solutions meet the community’s needs. The project is driven by a sense of giving back and enhancing the local identity.

Energy Atlas Tool – For Energy Efficiency and Resilience In Urban Areas

The project describes a decision-making tool for energy reconfiguration, used for evaluating solutions to increase energy and environmental performance, but also for the purpose of analyzing the conditions for climate resilience in urban areas.

The Energy Atlas type tool proposes the graphic transposition of the results obtained following the numerical simulation of the energy scenarios analyzed in order to achieve the objectives of the nZEB time horizon 2030, 2050. The project refers to a multi-criteria approach to the energy reconfiguration programs of urban areas, including assessment for the resilience of existing buildings.

The conclusions of the study showed the vulnerability of the analyzed buildings under climatic risk conditions, which led to the proposal of a support strategy in the form of a hotel for temporary resilience (intended for vulnerable people) used during the major renovation works, after which the existing housing units will be able to ensure conditions for passive survival. It is important to understand the complementarity between the concept of renovation for urban sustainability and renovation for resilience considering the fact that human health corresponds to the quality of the built environment.

The project as well as the results obtained for the analyzed urban area located in the Municipality of Bucharest were developed as part of the doctoral thesis, “Green Atlas of Romania, applications in local architecture of buildings with nearly-zero energy consumption (nZEB)”, University “Ion Mincu “Bucharest.

Recicleta

Since its humble beginnings in 2009, Recicleta has grown steadily to become a benchmark in Romania’s social economy. Today, after 15 years of activity, we have surpassed 22,000 collections and gathered over 1,150,000 kg of recyclable materials. These impressive figures are the result of consistent work, a commitment to the environment, and a strong community. Through partnerships with over 40 schools, we have collected over 30,000 kg of materials, contributing to the formation of a generation aware of the importance of recycling.

By using cargo tricycles and electric vehicles, we have reduced pollution and created stable jobs for disadvantaged individuals. Our partnerships with schools have allowed us to educate thousands of children about the importance of recycling and build a more conscientious community.

Recicleta is more than just a waste collection service. It is a vision for a better urban future, where technology, social economy, and environmental care blend harmoniously.

Revitalizing Reșița: A Sustainable Urban Transformation

This project addresses the legacy of heavy industry in Reșița, aiming to transform brownfield sites into vibrant spaces for disadvantaged communities.

By modernizing degraded recreational areas, we enhance urban aesthetics and prioritize pedestrian and cycling pathways.

Empowering Communities with the Multifunctional Center
The Multifunctional Center, which rapidly approaches completion, will serve as a safe haven for residents and visitors, fostering social connections and improving access between Mociur and Reșița. It aims to uplift living conditions and promote cultural and social activities for all.

Building a Greener, Connected Future
Incorporating sustainable features like solar panels and efficient cooling systems, the center’s design honors Reșița’s industrial heritage. New recreational spaces will link neighborhoods, encouraging outdoor engagement and strengthening community ties across the city.

Cămine Mociur: Revitalizing Community and Heritage

The Cămine Mociur project, currently being built, aims to develop the area, improve quality of life, enhance social cohesion, and stimulate economic growth in the Mociur neighborhood.

Our goal is to upgrade and modernize existing housing to create better living conditions for this marginalized community and reduce poverty and social exclusion.

Transforming Abandoned Spaces into Opportunities
Reșița has many abandoned brownfield sites due to its industrial past. This proposal focuses on two deteriorating buildings: the Social Housing Block, which needs refurbishment, and another set for demolition. Both buildings house 90 apartments but suffer from serious structural issues, impacting the city’s image and growth potential.

Strengthening Community Connections
This project aims to improve the layout of the area and strengthen connections between Mociur and the city center. Mociur faces overcrowding and social divisions, with some residents caring for their homes while others neglect shared spaces.

Empowering Residents Through Rehabilitation
By rehabilitating the Social Housing Block, we will support the revival of the Mociur community, creating a welcoming environment that fosters unity and transforms the neighbourhood into a vibrant part of Reșița’s future.

Recycling of Hazardous Waste Glass with Pb (CRT)

Recovery of hazardous waste with Pb.

The Research Development Innovation Service for a transition to a circular economy.

Saving natural resources in concrete production through the alternative option with recycled CRT glass waste (hazardous and non-hazardous waste) and reducing the carbon dioxide footprint by partially replacing cement, responsible for 7% of the total CO2 in its production type.

The project is a proposal based on extensive experience in applied research (with patents and technical approvals obtained).

EcoLeu

The EcoLeu project is at the idea stage.

The idea of the project is to create a mobile application, based on the principle of barter, through which people can exchange among themselves objects, in good condition, that they no longer need.

The aim of the project is to encourage people to understand the benefits of giving. At the same time, the reduction of the amount of waste and a living environment based on a balance between needs and consumption are promoted. For any transaction made, those who donated will receive an ecoleu (virtual currency). When accumulating more coins, they can be used at partners in the program. The partners who want to join the project will be part of the category of those who promote a healthy living environment (shops/gyms, cultural centers, bookstores, etc.).

Since its launch, the project has shown huge potential, being seen as a model of good practice in the field of circular economy and social assistance.

The Circular Economy Center

Lack of resources for underprivileged families – Many families in Bucharest live below the poverty line, with limited access to essential resources, including clothes and everyday items. This affects not only the quality of life, but also the possibility of these families to integrate socially.
The Circular Economy Center focuses on collection, sorting and redistribution services for reusable clothes and goods.

The project provides direct support to families living in poverty, contributing to the improvement of living conditions. Beneficiaries are people who would otherwise not be able to afford to purchase necessary clothes and items, which could affect their comfort, health and self-esteem. By providing these resources, social inequalities are reduced and inclusion is supported.

The Circular Economy Center was launched as part of a wider strategy of DGASMB to support vulnerable families and promote sustainability.

Since its launch, the project has shown huge potential, being seen as a model of good practice in the field of circular economy and social assistance.

ORIGO

The Origo project aims to revitalize and remodel the old industrial area of Târgu Mureș, focusing on the CFR Train Station area, by creating a new development hub that will include a modern business center, a cultural space, and medical facilities.

The first phase of the project targets the reconfiguration and redevelopment of the area adjacent to the railway tracks and the station square into an unconventional green space. This will create a green promenade for residents and those working nearby, integrating nature into urban life.

Additionally, the project aims to highlight the Train Station and rail transport by establishing a functional museum that will preserve and promote the local railway heritage.

The project’s goal is not only to redevelop the space but also to breathe new life into the area, turning it into a point of interest for the local community and visitors, contributing to the city’s economic and social development.
