Sector 2: Human Centric Streets & Scalable Urban Interventions

This tour highlights key public‑space transformations in Sector 2, illustrating how pedestrian‑first mobility, material quality, and replicable pilot projects contribute to a more accessible and welcoming urban environment. The journey begins in the Tei University Campus, where the UrbanWise pilot showcases rapid, high‑impact improvements to circulation, comfort, and the relationship between academic spaces and the surrounding neighborhood.

Participants then move to Strada Chiristigiilor, a former car‑dominated street now redesigned as a shared, people‑focused space that supports social interaction and local vitality. The route continues with the revitalized “Dr. Mioara Mincu Garden”, a micro‑park demonstrating how small urban green pockets can enhance the pedestrian network through vegetation, seating, and inviting pathways.

The tour further explores Grădina Icoanei, a naturalistic park renovation integrating permeable surfaces, shade, and calm walking routes. It concludes in the “New Old Town” area around Negustori, Popa Soare, and Plantelor Streets, where coordinated public‑space upgrades improve walkability, manage traffic, and reinforce the charm and comfort of a historic district.
